Online Evening Class 2 | Nov 11, 2026, 6:30-8:30 PM
On-Campus Seminar | Nov 13-14, 2026, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Location: Wellington College, 435 Berry Street, Winnipeg, MB
The lymphatic system plays a vital role in fluid balance, immune function, tissue healing, and the management of swelling and inflammation. Yet despite its importance, it is often one of the most overlooked systems in clinical practice.
This hands-on workshop is designed for massage therapists and manual therapy practitioners who want to better understand the lymphatic system and learn practical manual techniques that can be integrated into everyday treatments. Participants will explore the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic and immune systems, the mechanisms of edema formation, and the relationship between circulation, inflammation, healing, and fluid movement.
Through guided instruction and supervised practice, participants will learn a series of osteopathic-based lymphatic techniques designed to encourage healthy fluid movement, support recovery, and assist with mild edema and tissue congestion. Emphasis is placed on clinical reasoning, safety considerations, and appropriate application within the massage therapy scope of practice. The workshop also clarifies the distinction between lymphatic manual therapy techniques and specialized Manual Lymphatic Drainage approaches used in the management of lymphedema.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have practical skills they can immediately integrate into treatments for clients experiencing postural fluid retention, mild edema, recovery from injury, and general circulatory congestion, while gaining a deeper appreciation for the critical role the lymphatic system plays in health and healing.
Participants Will Learn:
Functional anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic and immune systems
The mechanisms of lymph formation, transport, and drainage
The causes and presentation of edema and fluid congestion
The relationship between inflammation, healing, and lymphatic function
Contraindications and clinical considerations for lymphatic treatment
Osteopathic-based lymphatic manual therapy techniques
Practical treatment applications that can be integrated into massage therapy practice
Strategies to support healthy circulation, recovery, and tissue healing
Ideal For
Registered Massage Therapists
Massage Therapy Students
Manual Therapists
Bodyworkers seeking to expand their treatment toolbox
Discover how a deeper understanding of the lymphatic system can enhance your clinical outcomes and help your clients move, heal, and recover more effectively.
