Western College → Wellington College

What This Transition Means for You

Over the coming year, Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies will be transitioning to a new name: Wellington College of Manual Therapies.

We recognize that any change like this can raise questions, especially when you are planning your education. This post is designed to clearly explain why the change is happening, what is staying the same, what is changing, and what you can expect as a student.

  • The transition from Western College to Wellington College reflects an evolution—not a replacement.

As Wayne Baiton, owner of Western College, retires after decades of dedicated leadership, Wellington College is honoured to carry the legacy forward and support the next chapter of the school’s journey.

This change allows the college to:

    • align with a broader institutional vision,

    • create opportunities for long-term growth, and

    • expand academic, alumni, and continuing education offerings in the future.

Most importantly, the transition is being done carefully and intentionally to ensure continuity for students.

  • While the name is changing, the core of the college remains exactly the same.

    This includes:

    • The program and curriculum

    • Delivery format and scheduling

    • Campus location

    • Faculty and instructional approach

    • Standards of education and assessment

Students can expect the same structure, expectations, and quality of training that Western College has long been known for.

  • The primary change is the college name and branding.

    Over time, you will see:

    • updated visual branding,

    • references to Wellington College in public-facing materials, and

    • new resources added as the college grows under its new name.

These changes are forward-looking and do not affect the substance of your education.

  • Students should expect no disruption to their studies.

    There are no changes to:

    • what you were promised when you applied,

    • how your program is delivered,

    • how you are evaluated, or

    • what is required to graduate.

Looking ahead, the transition positions the college to expand continuing education opportunities, alumni resources, and future course offerings, while maintaining the strong foundation already in place.

  • Which name will appear on my documents?

Everything up to and including June 30, 2026 will remain under Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies.

    This means:

    • students graduating and finishing their program during this period will receive:

      • diplomas,

      • T2202 tuition certificates,

      • receipts, and

      • official records
        under the Western College name.

What happens after June 30, 2026?

    After June 30, 2026:

    • the college will operate under the name Wellington College,

    • new applications, enrolment contracts, and tuition agreements will be issued under Wellington College, and

    • future graduates will receive documents reflecting the Wellington College name.

Will this affect my eligibility, funding, or recognition?

    No.
    The transition does not affect:

    • your program eligibility,

    • your standing as a student,

    • recognition of your education, or

    • the value of your credential.

The Student Support Team at Wellington College is proud to welcome you on a new journey!
