Fascial Chains (Theory 4 hrs; Practical 20 hrs) - Advanced level

Course Description
This course will introduce constituents to the basics of fascia and fascial chains. It will allow a basic understanding of the assessment and treatment of the connections of fascia that are found in the human body. Details will cover the 5 myofascial chains, the 3 visceral chains anatomically and the treatment of the myofascial chains. Several sources will be drawn for teh content of the course.
Prerequisites Advanced Massage Therapy Diploma, Remedial Massage Therapy Diploma
Workshop Outline
This course will cover the embyrology, physiology and anatomy of the fascias and connective tissues of the human body. It will require students to have a basic knowledge but the course will cover all of the theoretical information needed to be safe and effective in fascial work.
- 3 Plane stacking and unwinding
- Postural and functional postural assessment
- Assessment of the chains of fascia using long and short lever assessment skills
- Ethics, draping, and contraindications to Fascial work
- Use of fascial work for certain conditions such as MVA's, fibromyalgia and CFS will be discussed in an open format clinical presentation
Instructor Bio: Brad McCutcheon Dip(SIM), RMT, D.O. (MP)
Brad attended the University of Guelph to complete a degree in Exercise Physiology, Sheridan College for a diploma in Sports Injury Management, Kikkawa College for a diploma in Massage therapy, and the Canadian College of Osteopathy for a Doctorate in Osteopathic Manual Practice. Brad completed a certificate course in Adult Education in 1999. He was awarded the William Garner Sutherland Award for Excellence in clinical research from the CCO in 2003.
A Member of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, a certified Member of the Canadian Sports Massage Therapists Association, Brad is now the Prinicipal of teh Canadian College of Osteopathy, Toronto Campus. Brad has been active in both the OMTA and the Ontario Osteopathy Association board of directors in the past.
Brad is currently finishing his Masters Degree in Osteopathy at the University of Greenwich in England.
