Instructor Bio: Michael Harvey BPAS, EP, RMT

Michael became interested in Massage Therapy as an adjunct to his career as a Fitness Specialist. He has incorporated both modalities into his philosophy of injury prevention, rehabilitation and wellness promotion. By instructing students of the College in Exercise Concepts and Exercise Rehabilitation, Michael feels privileged to pass these ideals on to the future therapists.

After graduating from High School in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan. Michael attended the University of Regina for four years. In 1995 he convocated with a Bachelor of Physical Activity Studies with a major in Fitness and Lifestyle, and a considerable background in psychology. The next two years were spent in Banff, Alberta working as a Fitness and Lifestyle Consultant and learning to ski.

When he returned to Regina, Michael continued to operate his consulting business and began training at the Western/Wellington College of Remedial Massage Therapies Inc. In 1999 Michael graduated from the Advanced Remedial Massage Therapy program and began working as a Registered Massage Therapist. Michael also spent two years in the board of Massage Therapists Association of Saskatchewan, volunteering as the Education/Exam Director. This experience would be catalyst in creating his desire to instruct.

Michael has now spent the last eight years working as a Fitness Consultant and the last four years as Clinical Registered Massage Therapist. He currently works in a multi-disciplinary clinic with physiotherapists, conditioning therapists, occupational therapists, a chiropractor and a clinical psychologist.

Michael spends the remainder of his time with his wife and son, as well as training for triathlons. In 2002 he completed Ironman Canada as well as two half-Ironmans and a marathon. Michael brings his experience from these events into the classroom to provide students with the realization that they can achieve their goals through hard work and commitment.
