Course information
The participant will gain an understanding of how to recognize, evaluate and manage common soft tissue injuries which occur in the sports environment. Assessment and management techniques will be appropriate for use on-site where the injury occurred.
Participants are given the theoretical model of Acute Injury including:
- Mechanisms of soft tissue injury (forces & biomechanics)
- Physiological responses to soft tissue injury
- Signs and symptoms presenting at the initial onset of injury.
Participants will be introduced to various assessments (on-site) used to determine the nature and severity of soft tissue injuries.
Participants will practice these assessments via 20 case studies to be submitted to the instructor upon completion.
Management of assessed injuries with appropriate applications of ICE/ Immobilization/range of motion and referral.
Prerequisites
None.
Post Workshop
Participants must complete 20 case studies provided in a workbook template and return these for evaluation by the instructor. Done on second day. A written examination must be completed.
