Course information
Upon completion of this course, the delegate will be able to grasp the physiological and physical changes that occur throughout pregnancy. The ability to understand and correct postural imbalances due to hormonal changes and shifting of weight bearing joints. Confidence to assess and treat common dysfunctions within the pelvic region including all connective tissue. To individualize a prenatal exercise plan, re:strength and stretching for low back stability. Build upon their existing communication skills while learning the importance of balancing the art and science of massage. This workshop is mostly hands-on, enhancing therapist-existing knowledge. Emphasis is on specific techniques and positioning, not general massage.

Prerequisites
Remedial Massage Therapy Diplma (or equivalent) or completion of the Anatomy and Kinesiology of pelvis and sacrum in PMAS 200 (or equivalent).

Post-Workshop Requirements
Charting from 5 pregnant women throughout their gestation. This will include chief complaints, techniques used, results achieved, and any other application used from this course.

Janie LysackAbout the Instructor
Janie Lysack, RMT
An award-winning graduate of Wellington College, Janie's thesis study influenced the removal of diabetes mellitus from the international contraindication list. Janie joined the College's staff after establishing a thriving therapy practice dedicated to results oriented assessment and treatment of injuries, as well as lifestyle issues.
As an instructor, Janie is devoted to developing caring and compassionate massage therapists. Her practical approach to teaching led her to develop a number of seminars relating to pre- and postnatal massage and labor and delivery massage support. She has taken numerous continued education courses, and has 13 years of practical experience working with pregnant Moms.

CANCELLATIONS
There will be a $50 processing fee for any cancellation prior to May 25th, 2009. After May 25th, 2009, there will be a $100 charge (or %50 of your conference fee - whichever is less).
