Course information
Participant will gain an understanding of the use of athletic tape to protect an injured area and to reintegrate functional motor patterns and postures.
Participants are instructed on the purposes and differences inherent to taping for stabilization and taping for proprioception
Athletic taping is demonstrated for the peripheral joints
Proprioceptive taping is demonstrated for peripheral joints and the vertebral column
Participants apply each technique based on the 20 case studies provided, and their work is evaluated with feedback from the instructor. Contraindications covered include allergies and patient non-compliance
Prerequisites
An understanding of the sensory and motor nervous system relationship. No formal prerequisite.
Post Workshop
Students must complete 20 case study applications evaluated by the instructor. Done on second day. A written exam must be completed.
