Dale Gran, WC (Hon), RMT
Vice Principal, Instructor
After graduating from Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies with the Abe Reimer Award of Excellence, Dale was invited to pursue instructor training. An instructor at Wellington College since 1997, Dale teaches massage application to advanced full-time and distance education students. For his ongoing dedication to students, Dale received honors from Wellington College in 2000.
Dale’s work in somatics was published in an industry journal and his expertise in applied massage has led him to present at conferences and seminars across Canada. He continues to operate a private practice in his spare time.
Dale received his Adult Education Certificate from the University of Manitoba in 2008.
Wayne Baiton WC (Hon), LCSP (Phys)
Principal of Western College, Instructor
As Principal of Regina-based Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies, Wayne is dedicated to promoting massage therapy to the public and advancing the professional careers of his students. One of western Canada’s leading teachers of athletic and remedial massage, Wayne offers his considerable knowledge and experience to students of Wellington College as well.
A 1990 graduate of Western College, Wayne took ownership of the Regina campus in 2004, after building a solid career focused on sports massage training.
Sheila Savary, WC (Hon), RMT
Instructor, Clinic Observer
A graduate of Wellington College, Sheila instructs basic and advanced classes in pathology, physiology, neurophysiology, medical terminology and hydrotherapy, in both the distance education and full-time programs. For her ongoing dedication to students, Sheila received honors from Wellington College in 2000.
Sheila’s continuing work in Geriatric Massage therapy has earned her provincial and national respect.
She presents at conferences and facilitates courses in Breast Massage, Geriatric and Palliative care for health care providers. Her innovative approach to providing end-of-life massage therapy became an approved program for residents of The Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg Inc. where she was a member of the facility’s Palliative Care Team from 2001-2008 (Chair from 2004-2006). She also served on the MTAM Board of Directors from 2007-2009.
Sheila received her Adult Education Certificate from the University of Manitoba in 2008.
Other then being an accomplished therapist and one of Wellington's busiest instructors, in her spare time Sheila plays hockey and slo-pitch, runs regularly and has just started rock climbing.
Michelle Castle, B.Ed, RMT
Student Liaison, Instructor
Michelle earned a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Manitoba in 1994, and spent several years teaching high school English before moving into student services and guidance counseling in rural Manitoba. Pursuing a new branch in her career path, Michelle began studying massage therapy at Wellington College. She graduated in 2005, earning the Principal’s Award of Excellence and representing her class as Valedictorian. After graduation, Michelle began her massage therapy practice in an Osborne Village clinic now called Evergreen Massage & Integrated Therapies, where she continues to see clients in the evenings and weekends.
Combining her experience and love for massage therapy and education, Michelle joined the Wellington College staff as Student Liaison in July 2005. This role involves coordinating admissions and financial aid, monitoring students’ progress and attendance, managing student records, providing academic and career guidance, and offering an open door for students needing support. As a professional educator, Michelle is also involved in revising and writing curriculum for Wellington College, continues to do some teaching in areas such as nutrition and study skills, and has presented workshops for instructors on topics such as effective instruction and critical thinking.
In April 2007, Michelle was elected to the Board of Directors of the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba. She currently serves as a Director and as the Chair of the Continuing Education Committee for the MTAM.

Leanne Scatliff, RMT
Admin, Instructor, Publications, Web Admin
Leanne was introduced to massage therapy after suffering a knee injury while training in Karate. She graduated from Wellington College in 2000 with an Award of Merit for her thesis on Respiration.
After building a full-time massage therapy practice, Leanne joined the Wellington College in 2006 as administration, and an Instructor of Hydrotherapy and Research Literacy.
Leanne continues to work with the College Website, Publications, Conference Coordinator, Student and Alumni Services, and as Research Literacy Instructor.
Virginia Nagy, RMT
Instructor, Advanced Practical Observer
Virginia graduated from Wellington College in 2005 and launched a mobile massage business, offering her services at seniors’ homes, child care centers and in communities as far north as Gillam, Manitoba. In 2006, Virginia began working at Wellington College’s student clinic in downtown Winnipeg where she is the Advanced Practical Observer.
As an elite archer, Virginia has trained with Olympic-caliber athletes and travelled to France to compete. She utilized this world-class experience in her role as a teacher of Exercise Rehabilitation and Exercise Concepts.
Colette Chabot MEd
Instructor, Student Counselor
Colette’s 32-year career as a teacher and school counselor and her experiences as a workshop therapist and workshop leader at Renaissance Centre gives Colette a rare insight into the educational and personal needs of students of all ages.
Studying massage therapy can be intense and stressful, and Wellington College students are fortunate to have Colette’s expertise available to them. She is committed to the success and well-being of all our students.
Shane Parrington, RMT
Instructor; Clinic & Outreach coordinator
A graduate of Wellington College’s distance education program, Shane joined the staff in 2005 as an Outreach Observer at the Grace Hospital. Shane’s role at the College has since evolved and she is now working as Clinic/Outreach Observer Coordinator, and is the Basic Practical Instructor.
Shane’s goal is to create a clinical and outreach environment for students that provides a strong foundation for success at Wellington and as future therapists. She is pursuing her Certification in Adult Education at Red River College.
